Every film set should have day care. Every last one.

If you can serve lobster for lunch— you can provide childcare.
Actually even if you can’t afford to serve lobster for lunch you should have day care. Period.
This is my promise that every set I produce on will have day care.
On the last movie I worked on my coworker, a single mom, had to bring her 4 year old daughter to set every day. We started at 5am most days. It was hard. I will never let that happen again.
There’s a reason why my writing always has a familia theme— bc I value them. I was raised by a single mother who I am just getting to know bc she had to work so much when I was a child.

Families are precious. Its the fabric to who we are as humans.
It’s so engrained in our society to work first, family second. Funny enough, Republicans claim they want to protect the nuclear family but insist working 16 hour days under capitalism is normal.

It’s not normal. Parents shouldn’t have to chose between work and family in 2020
When I was a working at my last job, I had meetings at many studios/networks— only one had daycare. That was @AMC_TV — I was so impressed. Boom right there in the lobby— day care.
And this is why the boys club of Hollywood thrives bc women, especially single moms, are shut out.

Have you tried finding a sitting for 16 hour days? Guesss why you can’t and if you can— you certainly can’t afford it.
And this is why I refuse to have children anytime soon bc I know my choices are make movies or be a mom and that shouldn’t be a choice. I should be able to do both.

10-12 hour days
Day care on set

That’s what we need.
