they barely gave their music a chance as if artists aren& #39;t able to develop a sense of style as their careers flourish like you should see how their style jumped from take me home to midnight memories it was LITERALLY a cultural reset
like seriously if you listened to all of their music from the earliest to the latest album you would notice how they grew as writers and singers. there were a lot of changes with how they wrote their lyrics and experimented with genres
midnight memories was an important era because you would notice how they were starting to control their content. there was a big difference lyrically and it was evident that they were genuinely enjoying the process of writing it
honestly at this point, all i could say is that people were missing out as soon as they refused to acknowledge the band& #39;s growth. they& #39;ve heard of the singles but the singles did not define how they improved as a band.
you would only know how to appreciate them as artists if you listened to their music as a whole. most of their best songs are barely even heard.

side note: the band was bullied for having teenage girls as their audience. now what the fuck was wrong with that? yall used that fact to insult them. people disregarded their music because they believed that their music only catered to teenagers.
