The standard critical reply to this tweet has been 'but costs to the economy also mean loss of life' - okay, fine, but that's sort of my point! It's not just bad that lives are treated as less important than profit, but that lives are made contingent upon profit-making
Why organise the world so that closing a cafe or a restaurant or even a clothing factory means that people die? We have enough to go around, we can do things a different way - decisions have to be made, sure, but it's capitalism which means that the calculations have these terms
