If we ignore people who complain about anything and everything...I think the root issue with the new Halo footage is that people are become increasingly aware that there hasn't been massive technically-driven gameplay innovation since the 6th console generation.
Since the end of the 6th gen, none of the increases in processing power have really created new genres that were not possible before. Most innovations have come in the form of increased connectivity via the internet.
AI in games is a bit of a misnomer, and there hasn't been much change there.
It’s still mostly running towards / away from things, and those things moving away / towards the player (see the recent Halo footage).

So when most player-facing changes have been limited to increased graphics fidelity over the last 22 years, it becomes increasingly difficult to sell people on new consoles. Especially as those graphical changes have diminishing returns as time marches on.
When a large corporation asks you to spend hundreds of dollars on a new piece of hardware to arguably play the “same” games (this is compounded by Halo Infinite being the 8th(?) entry in the series), players probably want / need to be blown away by the fidelity.
Otherwise, I imagine it’s a real hard sell.
