seeing my mom’s taxes when i was applying for the FAFSA my freshman year of college really contextualized many of the decisions she made and made me realize we rly were in poverty so when yall say stuff like “500k” isn’t wealthy and “making 150k doesn’t make you rich”
i really have side-eye how insulated you are. my mom was taking care of 4 kids + herself on around 30k a year. many people live (survive) this way. like y’all have no idea how far removed you are from people scraping by just to eat everyday or pay rent
i graduated from college making more money than my mother and i don’t say that as a flex but there is an entire class of Black people in the us you spit in the face of when you try to make it seem like your upper middle class upbringing is not materially better than theirs
or as if y’all share a class + class interests. as if ur upbringing did not give you access to things they will never have and give you safety.
