I& #39;m going to say this, then breathe.

Game Pass is the product. Series X is not the product. It& #39;s the door to that product. If you get a Series X with Game Pass at launch because of that showcase = sale. If you get Game Pass on PC today because of that showcase = sale.
It& #39;s the same thing for MS. The product is Game Pass. The product is getting you embedded into the Xbox ecosystem, ready for XCloud. The product is not Series X.

I think this is being lost because we like being hit round the head and told we need to spend £400 on new hardware.
They& #39;re not putting all of those games from yesterday on Game Pass at launch because they& #39;re nice people. They& #39;re doing it because they think & #39;play games on any hardware& #39; Netflix like subscription model is the future. The profitable future. Xbox is Game Pass, it& #39;s not Series X.
From my perspective, however, that message is not getting through. People are seeing Series X as the product and Game Pass as a nice bonus upgrade. We are so used to the old way of doing things that MS& #39;s approach right now is leaving people confused. That& #39;s a challenge for Xbox.
Sony is selling you a shiny new VHS player with lots of individual videos to buy. MS is trying to sell you a Netflix subscription with content included.

My take? Right now people want the VHS player because it& #39;s 7 years since they last bought one. And that& #39;s what they& #39;re used to
We& #39;re used to get excited for & #39;you can& #39;t play this yet& #39; console reveals with high prices. We like shiny new tech. Long term I think people will see just how strong Game Pass is, but in this pre-console launch hype train, everyone just wants to lust after a new VHS player.
And I& #39;m done. Breathe.
