Correct summary: Westminster and it’s hangers-on have made it crystal clear that they will do absolutely anything, will gladly set everything on fire while shouting “Fuck you lefties”, rather than move an inch towards improving the lives of the populace. They will not be moved.

And then boom, it’s off on a tour of patriotic Disneyland. Was the Scottish Government choking to get into lockdown sooner? No real signs of it: the Old Firm game (60,000 crowd) was called off about 36 hours before kickoff, which doesn’t sound like any hatches were being battened

Nobody could accuse the nationalists of being insufficiently critical of the Tories, but where were the demands for earlier lockdown then? Where are the recriminations now? There were nine and are none, and you have to suspect there are good reasons for this.

Is our death rate notably lower? The excess isn’t; we’re right up with the very worst performing European countries for Covid; our care home disaster was just as bad. But I guess that doesn’t matter, because we might have done better if we’d been independent (puff of pink smoke)

You see, Scotland doesn’t just have daft and selfish fuckheads like every other country on Earth does. Scotland instead has people who pay more attention to Johnson than to Sturgeon, as the tendrils of English degeneracy once more thwart our homegrown radical sensibleness.

Because Westminster is fantastically corrupt and secretive (absolutely correct) unlike Scotland, where nobody has ever had any reason to question the party that has been in power for thirteen years without doing anything dodgy or sly.

And so to the heart of it.

I’ve spent much of the week saying that the UK governance system is basically unreformable and irredeemable and I’d like you to note that this isn’t sufficient, because you also have to accept all of this fantasyland Aren’t-We-The-Best horseshit and not complain about it.

It goes to the heart of what I’ve been saying for years: What are we trying to do here? Are we trying to improve people’s lives or are we just trying to fuckfest the populace to +50% for our wacky constitutional reform scheme? If it’s the latter, it seems to be going brilliantly.
