This whole thread. On the “phase” thing, I once saw someone explain that when people believe bi women are really just straight and bi men are really just gay, it’s misogynistic either way bc the assumption in both cases is that bi people all *really* just wanna be w/ men. https://twitter.com/MatthewFacciani/status/1285952874640543744
Someone recently pointed out to me that ppl try to cast biphobia as a watered-down version of misogyny or homophobia as a silencing tactic and minimizing of biphobia. I really hope you didn’t feel that’s what I did w/ such an important thread, @MatthewFacciani !
I definitely have lived biphobia and your thread, in particular, touches on so many important elements of it. 1 thing that interests me is the particular presentation of biphobia & how it’s different for men (on track to being gay) vs. women (really just straight).
There’s a core similarity that is uniquely biphobic there - the not believing in people’s sexual orientations, etc., but I think the intersection w/ misogyny produces diff results in diff genders. I should have been more precise & will be in the future.
