Maddie Ziegler’s problematic past: a thread (TW: racism, homophobia, transphobia, body-shaming)
I am going to put all of the info sent to me out there, but I am not a part of every community targeted, so it’s not my place to determine if some of them are an issue.
First, we have a video of Maddie singing “Super Bass” with Brooke Hyland. She very clearly uses the n word. She was 8-9.
Next, Maddie pulled at her eyes while speaking about fried rice in a stereotypical Asian accent. She was 10.
And again. She was around 11.
A friend again pulling at Maddie’s eyes as she sings a parody of “Milkshake” in which she uses an Asian slur. She was 12.
Maddie body-shaming rhythmic gymnasts. She was 12.
Maddie speaking in a foreign accent saying she ate a cat. She was 13.
Refusing to stand at the Orlando tribute at the 2016 TCAs. She was 13.
She posted then archived her post about the Manchester bombing. She got hate, reposted it, then ultimately re-archived because it didn’t match her feed. She was 13-14. (I had ss but can’t find them, I’ll add them in when I do)
Maddie touching a black man’s hair without permission, laughing, then putting on an accent and calling him “homie”. I’m unsure what age she was, but she looks around 13 as well.
She liked a tweet calling a poc “black trash”. She was 13. (it is alleged that she was hacked around this time, but her team unliked every tweet the hackers liked to my knowledge- this one is still up)
She was allegedly tanned very dark for Sia’s upcoming “Music” movie, so much so that there was speculation she would be playing a biracial character. She’ll be playing a (poorly-researched, likely offensive) autistic character in the film.
Maddie “insulting” her mother by calling her mother a lesbian. She was 15.
Maddie speaking about a cat that turned human, comparing it to trans people. She was 16.
Speaking in a stereotypical hispanic accent. (Age?)
Maddie shaming POC for calling her sister out on racism (using and laughing at the use of the n word). This was this month.
Leaving fans begging her to apologize on read. This was this week.
