With gyms being closed for the foreseeable future I& #39;ve decided to convert part of our garage into a home gym. I& #39;ll be documenting the progress here over the next several weeks.
Just a little bit of rearranging today. Mostly throwing out old stuff to relocate other things to the other side of the garage. Swept up a lot of dirt and cobwebs on the walls. Next I& #39;ll be locating and measuring out the studs for all the equipment placement
Okay so whoever built our house fucked us over and didn& #39;t space out our studs evenly. I was doing some research and I& #39;ll probably need to install a ledger board first before we can mount the actual bracket for the squat rack. A small hiccup but it should still work
Need some help on this one! @PRxPerformance What can I do if my studs are unevenly spaced?
Trying to figure out if I can fit this pull-up bar on the adjacent wall
Update: Finally pulled the trigger on a pair of PowerBlock Elite Dumbbells. Got them above MSRP but any gym equipment is hard to come by these days so I didn& #39;t hesitate to buy em. The squat rack and the barbell are still on back order for a couple more weeks.

Squat rack is on the way!!!
The barbell arrived early!! It looks amazing in all black. Thank God it didn& #39;t get damaged during shipping. I& #39;ll post some better pictures of it tomorrow
Here& #39;s a better look at the barbell. Fringe Sport 20kg Men& #39;s Wonder Bar Olympic Barbell.
The squat rack finally arrived after being on back order for six weeks. And in four different packages. The hard part is over (hopefully). Can& #39;t wait to put this together
Me and the fam installed the squat rack over the weekend. Instructions were fairly easy to follow. Got the whole thing done in about 4 hours. There& #39;s some minor imperfections but it still turned out looking beautiful. Really happy with it overall!
Charming.
After a bit of research I decided to go with these Rogue Echo Bumper Plates for my gym. They& #39;re durable and made pretty well, and they pair beautifully with my barbell. Found this entire set of 230 lbs on OfferUp
Bought these rubber floor mats from Offer Up, but quickly realized they give off an obnoxious fume. Turns out mats like these sometimes contain organic compounds that smell bad and can also be harmful if inhaled over a long period of time
Laying them out in the sun is basically the only fix here. The heat is supposed to open the pores of the rubber to release the gases. But I& #39;ve read it can take a couple of weeks, and even then it may not completely fix the problem. Hoping this works
If not, I might have to scrap these and take the L. Won& #39;t be a huge setback but it would still be disappointing to have wasted the time and money on these. My fault for not researching this flooring well enough
But good news is my PRx barbell holder came in the mail today. The install only took about 15 minutes. Love being able to properly store the barbell next to the rack now
