Since it’s been a lot of doom and gloom, and apparently after 4 months I’m starting to actually miss my community interaction, I wanted to simultaneously spread positivity and boost people I know and literature I love from the book industry. So here it goes (a thread):
. @gretchschreiber is a force in the book world. Her advocate for GOOD disability representation in lit is untouched & the awareness she brings is fire. I’ve learnt so much. Sign up for her newsletter! Also, watch this space as you will see more from her. https://mailchi.mp/f54c0e1f5761/disabledyanewsletter
Looking for a virtual book club? I recommend Amerie’s Book Club. She chooses diverse material, both in genre and backgrounds of authors. She has a genuine love of reading and it shines through. https://www.ameriesbookclub.com
If you haven’t read an @elanakarnold book, I haven’t done my job. One of my fave authors who explores the dark side of female sexuality, yet still has her YA rooted in the teen experience. Her MG, chapter books and picture books shouldn’t be missed either. http://elanakarnold.com
Got a small child in your life? You can’t go wrong with the Branches imprint at Scholastic. Fun series that kids consume, with genres and levels to please everyone. http://www.scholastic.com/branches/index.html
So @shanepang is one of my favorite people to work with in this industry. From producing the logistics side of YALLWEST, illustrating The Unbelievable Oliver series and having his own MG debut coming out soon, he is immersed and busy! Check out his work. http://shanepangburn.com
Alexa Donne is an author, Booktuber, and super knowledgeable on the industry. Check out her books (The Stars We Steal is Persuasian in space, everybody!), channel and Austen panel streams!

I’m actually a huge Romance fan. HUGE. My favorite site is Smart Bitches, Trashy Books which even has a trope search engine! Still a go-to site for me.

Walt Disney Animator, author and illustrator @bshum79 has some great books for young kids. He has a distinct illustrating style that evokes happiness in me. It’s so cute!

You can have signed copies of some of his titles shipped to you from @BNEventsGrove!
Under the radar, but I really, really like Sarah Everett’s books. Pack emotional punches, explores identity and personal relationships in surreal plots that feel so real. Check her out!

I’m going to let you in on a secret: everyone is bringing a copy of Goodnight Moon to that baby shower. A board book I recommend that’s more low-key is Dancing Feet by Lindsey Craig. Diverse characters & word play that makes every baby I read it to smile. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/7531219
So @theadamsass has his debut, Surrender Your Sons, coming out in September. It’s so good I blurbed it and am offering a signed Patrick Ness book if you preorder it! Do it. https://twitter.com/cantinera/status/1284902023435976704
I love Libby and the access to so many digital titles through LAPL. The library system has so many great programs, even if you don’t step foot in one! From Kanopy, Kanopy Kids (which doesn’t have limits!) & Discover and Go free museum access, there’s something for you.
Anyway, that was long, but a few things I wanted to boost right now. Back to your regular twitter!
You can follow @cantinera.
