wangxian cleaning thread!!
so now I'm thinking of teen lwj who's been betrothed to teen wwx for years. they've met a few times over the years but it's been a while since they've seen each other but they're nearly of age now and need to decide whether the marriage is going ahead

so jiang fengmian and madam yu bring the kids to cloud recesses and wwx now is THE MOST BEAUTIFUL THING LWJ HAS EVER SEEN, he thinks he might actually qi deviate, his reaction is so strong

(their guests, of course, see nothing wrong. meanwhile, lxc sees all, practically gasps and demands to know if wangji's okay. He insists he's fine and that he just stepped on a sharp rock or something)

wwx had been very well behaved on his previous visits but now he's grown into himself and he's maddening - in the best way. He's annoying but charming, personable but irritating, get on people's nerves but also wants to be the best thing about their day

lwj is...none of those things.
He knows what people think of him - no one in the Lan clan would ever dare, but he's overheard visitors. Too quiet. Too dour. Too stiff. Doesn't know how to make friends. Takes himself too seriously.

lwj is so vibrant inside but never knows how to show it, and no one else never knows how to see it. But more than anything he would love to try and make that happen with wwx. But how can he make wwx like him? wwx is so loud and brash and draws attention everywhere he goes

lwj knows his personality is wanting and never feels comfortable bringing up his (many) accomplishments, so he - instead - chooses to make sure wwx knows how he can be very useful indeed

on one of their chaperoned 'dates' - standing on the bridge over the cold springs together, while jiang fengmian carefully doesn't watch from some 20 feet away - wwx is talking - he does that a lot - and lwj can only listen, hypnotised

wwx is jokingly complaining about how strict Madam Yu is - though lwj has been suspecting for a few days now that it's not really a joke at all - and that Lotus Pier had to be absolutely spotless at all times and they were responsible for their own rooms

lwj finally sense an opportunity. "I am very good," he says, and then his voice seems to stop working.
Cheeks turning red, wwx smiles at him almost...bashfully? "I know you are, Lan Zhan."
"I'm very good at cleaning," he clarifies, even as his ears go red. "Was what. I meant."

"Oh," wwx says, confused. "That's useful, I guess. At least one of us is."
But lwj is on a roll now. "You could judge my room, if you like. So you know I speak the truth."
"That's really not necessa-" wwx cuts off and stares at lwj as the words sink in.

"Go to your room?" he asks, wide eyed. "Is that...allowed?" he hisses, glancing not-so-furtively towards Clan Leader Jiang.
It is rather...indiscreet, that's true, but he seems to have actually gained wwx's interest so he's not stopping now.

"So long as we still have a chaperone there can be no accusations against us."
At the word 'chaperone' wwx makes a face, his nostrils flaring somehow still attractively, but ultimately agrees and hurries over to Clan Leader Jiang to explain

He grabs lwj's hand as he goes, tugging him with him, and lwj happily - not even shamefully - lets himself be pulled along. He purposefully stares at jiang fengmian's shoulder as wwx explains so he doesn't know what his reaction is other than he ultimately agrees

the walk to the jingshi takes forever and no time at all, as wwx has been holding his hand the entire way. He worries, at first, that his palms might be too sweaty but wwx just keeps grinning at him (no one's ever done that to him before) that he stops worrying about it

when they reached the jingshi clan leader jiang very strangely stands at the bottom of the steps and says very loudly, "I will stand here and enjoy the air for two minutes. And then I shall come inside." He then turns away from them and looks up at the sky

A very confused lwj is then tugged up into the jingshi by a very eager wwx. Nonetheless, they are in his room now and he can show just how clean he keeps-and he's suddenly being pressed up against something and wwx's lips are on his and he curses internally for the first time

"Ah, Lan Zhan," wwx grins between kisses, so close as lwj stares at him wide eyed, "you're so clever! I didn't know my future husband was so smart." lwj still doesn't really know what's happening but wwx is kissing him again and he's not an idiot so he starts kissing him back

there's not a whole lot of thinking after that. lwj has never kissed anyone before - he doesn't think wwx has either? neither one of them seems like they have much practical experience but he couldn't care less because they're getting some here, now, and WWX IS KISSING HIM

Sadly, it seems like no time at all until jiang fengmian is clearing his throat and speaking loudly, announcing that he's about to step inside.
Muttering, wwx yanks regretfully away from lwj, and lwj can only stare at him in wonder at what just happened-

-as wwx pats at his own hair, then carefully smooths his hands over lwj's hair, trying to make sure he's presentable and lwj's heart SQUEEZES and-
"Marry me."
wwx's wide, shocked eyes snap to his and lwj doesn't even care when jiang fengmian steps into view behind him

all he can really see is the way wwx's face transforms into happiness and warmth and certainty. "Okay," wwx grins as he speaks softly, hand patting across lwj's hair one more time. "I think I'd like that."
And from then on, they both become the best thing about each other's days.
