#ActuallyAutistic people and others who need #AdaptivePPE : I recently discovered mask brackets, an insert for face masks that prevent the mask from touching your face as much and provides a bit more breathing room
Wearing it does make breathing feel a little easier, and it significantly helps with the sensory aspects of mask wearing. I used to constantly be tugging at the mask and rubbing my face to get the itchy feeling off, but a mask bracket keeps most of the fabric off my face
It’s definitely not a perfect solution but it does help for me at least. It creates a little bit of pressure on my nose which is a bit irritating but I prefer it to having fabric touching me. It also means that I’m not breathing in directly through the fabric, but have a gap
I ordered mine online and got a pack of 3 for like $12. They’re reusable soft silicone and so they can be easily sterilized
