The "Telfar deserves to be worth thousands of dollars" take is not the uplifting take you think it is.
I want us to view Blackness as luxury. The bag is luxurious because it was made by someone Black. It is not luxurious because of cost and inaccessibility. Capitalism is not luxurious. It is the opposite.
And this idea that Black production should cost equal or more than white production is exactly the anti-Black take you don't think it is. It's a showcase of everyone's relationship to chattel slavery and the idea that if the slave is the right price, it'll be more valuable.
But I have to remember that the majority of you, with the ability to read, refuse to and this is clearly a convo that will go over your head, as many other ones do.
