with talks about a comeback being around the corner and also the smeraldo blog opening back up here is a much needed thread for baby armys and other armys that are confused on the whole bangtan universe (BU)
before we begin this isnât a super extensive theory thread! mAybe iâll do one in the future 
but for now this is just a really simple introduction to the Bangtan Universe that everyone could use for some clarification and to sharpen our memories

the bangtan universe was first brought to our attention with HYYH era.
- HYYH is an abbreviation for BTSâs 'The Most Beautiful Moment in Life' series, youâll also see it abreviated as TMBMIL sometimes but most often youâll see ppl use HYYH

* although it was first brought to our attention with HYYH era, it has been in the works since BTSâs debut !! lots of BU content can be linked back to the first four albums BTS released
now then, what exactly is the BU? the BU is an Alternate Universe created by BigHit Entertainment (BTSâs label) where fictional characters are portrayed by the boys and even have the same name as them
BigHit usually marks BU content as âBUâ and we get BU content from many different sources

some tips in regards to the BU
- every. single. detail. means something, i cannot stress this enough
- thereâs a LOT of symbolism and motifs throughout the BU
- theories you see floating around can make A LOT of sense, but thatâs all they are. theories.
- EVERYTHING IS CONNECTED

The storyline is MOST CLEARLY told through the Save Me webtoon released in the beginning of 2019

I highly encourage you to read the save me webtoon, itâs the most clear form of the bangtan universe we got without trying to come up with our own crazy theories AND ITS SO GOOD, whew yeah pls read it if you arenât easily triggered by the themes mentioned above
BU ABSTRACT: theres these 7 boys who were really close throughout their school years, but drifted apart with time. basically their lives went to sht and one day the main character (seokjin) stumbles upon his old friend Namjoon and then starts to wonder about the other boys+
not gonna give away too much, bc itâs all in the Save Me webtoon and i donât wanna spoil, but sht happens to the boys and every time things go wrong seokjin time travels (he doesnât have control over it) to the same day he stumbled upon namjoon
* Basically the BU story line is a coming of age story for seven boys with a HUGE twist. A major theme is age, and a motif is time. The story focuses on the transition of youthfulnes into adulthood, something we see in BTSâs music as well.
[NOTE] song lyrics have never referenced the BU so far, all of those are sung and written by BTS and convey THEIR thoughts and emotions

- HYYH era is youth
- WINGS/YNWA era is the transition into adulthood
- LY era is navigating adulthood and independence
in regards to the Bangtan Universe

The Notes are stories from the BU usually told from the perspective of a single character and the story usually takes place in the year 22. The setting usually takes place in different time lines seokjin has travelled to.

- WINGS era had yoonmin, vhope, and namkook, and jin singled out
- LY era had hopekook, minimoni, yoonjin, and tae singled out this time+

I know that was a lot for a âreally simple introductionâ but itâs REALLY complex, i barely scratched the surface here. itâs a true work of art/literature and it blows my mind that there is a whole entire world to BTSâs art that you could probably never tell from the outside
