So, we all know One Direction and BTS have the most loyal fans in the entire world. I am a part of both and i have noticed a pattern. Along with having the warmest, most welcoming fans, we also have the most toxic people i have ever seen and that's what i'm gonna talk about.
Along with the love they get, these two immensely successful boy bands are also the target of copious amounts of hatred. "They can't sing well" "they look like girls" and the common "only delusional teen girls listen to them" So, 31606 million people must be delusional then.
But success literally comes with both love and hate so there's nothing we can do about that. What actually infuriates me is when people claim to be fans then show or appreciate toxic behaviour like hating on a particular member, or coming after new fans when they try to fit in.
I've been a directioner for a while now and every time i saw a new fan, it brings a smile to my face. Yet I know people who attack new fans because of using old jokes or getting their voices mixed up etc. There's even people who judge others for joining the fandom after 2015.
Yes i am a baby ARMY who joined the fandom in 2020. I have been welcomed by loads of nice people and it has been great. But i have also gotten DMs that say "saying borahae is lame" or that i don't have the right to quote their old references like "got no jams". My point is Why ?
It's not like i am hurting them in any way.... then why ?
If this is what makes me happy then why can't i do it ? not just me, anybody honestly. It's not like the boys have asked us not to talk about these... then why ?
But this fan hater subsection is like the mildest of the toxic fans . The worst are those who claim to be directioners or ARMY, then say that they hate/ dislike a particular member. I mean sure have a bias/ favourite, every one does. But don't freaking demean the other members.
There's people who still don't understand.

One Direction would NOT have been One Direction without Louis Tomlinson or Niall Horan.

BTS would NOT have been BTS without Jung Hoseok (Jhope) or Kim Seokjin (Jin).
Like you could write lyrics or sing as passionately as Louis or Niall.

Like you could sing, dance and rap as well
as Hobi.

Like you could sing high notes as well as Jin.

Like you could gain the love of millions just by being yourself.
And don't even get me started on people who call members ugly. 1st of all there is nothing called ugly, just because one doesn't fall under stereotypical good looks that doesn't make them "ugly".
2nd of all it's a picture of a member sweetheart, not the scan of your brain.
Lastly, something that i've noticed exclusively for BTS or the males of Kpop.

They are not usually hated on cause of their music.
They are hated on because they wear make up, or because they wear androgynous clothes or because they are not afraid to put their feelings out there and in my opinion that is simply the appreciation of toxic masculinity and nothing else.
I could talk about SO many other things but this thread is getting too long so, i'm going to end it here. My intention with this thread was not to hate on anyone but to point out a few things that stop fandoms from being ultimate sources of positivity and love.
