8 USC 1357 gives CBP and Border Patrol extraordinary powers that police do not have. They can legally racially profile, the can stop and detain/arrest w/out warrant, they can put you in their van & take you w/out warrant, they can search you and your property w/out warrant. 1)
2) They can spend hours determining your citizenship w/out warrant. They can search your vehicle, tearing it apart w/out warrant. They can run your info to see if you are wanted or if you have a warrant w/out a warrant. Welcome America to policing under the CBP & Border Patrol.
3) Portland is w/in their enforcement area. So is Chicago. Is your city? Likely. 2/3 of us live w/in 100 miles of a border or body of water that is also considered a border. Their mandate changed after 9/11 from immigration to terrorism.
4) Trump has declared Antifa a terrorist organization. They are saying Antifa is causing this violence even though they have zero evidence. This is entirely legal under DHS terrorism laws.
5) CBP & Border Patrol enforcement never mattered much to Americans bc it only happened near the southern border. They are using this & DHS terrorism laws to bring these powers to you now. With Antifa designated as a terrorist org, designating these protests as Antifa, they
6) have all the legal power they need. Now I believe this is unconstitutional. ACLU will fight it, but that does you no good at this moment. I’ve been meeting with attorneys here & rights groups on this yesterday & today. We all agree this is what they are doing.

11) This is why the responses to these protests are done with a variety of agencies: it MUST follow the Joint Terrorism Task Force model. Note that it includes domestic terrorism and although Antifa is not an organization, other terrorism groups are not clearly structured either.
12) By using the JTTF, CBP and Border Patrol limit of 100 miles from any land or sea border is a moot point.
