On Tom Lawrence’s injury, Cocu said: “He will not be available and will be out for a couple of weeks. He’s an important player for us but he fell on his elbow and went down on his shoulder so he won’t be available for tomorrow.”

Cocu said: “I have a clear idea of how I would like the team but the financial situation, not just for us but for many, influences our decisions. Fresh blood needs to come in but we need to keep a core of players who know how we play. Some players will need to find new projects.”
Asked about challenges in his first season Cocu replied: “It’s not about one event or situation but due to all events off and on the pitch, it was not easy for everybody to keep focused on the football part, 100%. That has been my biggest challenge.”
On what he has enjoyed this season, Cocu replied: “I have enjoyed myself a lot. To work with the staff we have, quite a few staff members have worked in the academy but now in the first team, so it’s been nice to see their progression as well as the progression of the players.”
He continued: “The young players especially are really open to learn and that’s been a pleasure. If we don’t win then I am struggling having a good time but that doesn’t mean I’m not enjoying it at the club.”
Cocu confirmed the players would have a break before the new season starts: “It will be a short break but we are still waiting on the final answer when next season will start."
He continued: “They will have at least two weeks because you have to prepare yourself for next season. It will come thick and fast again so you need to get your mind straight and come back with new energy.”
Manager Phillip Cocu concludes his pre-match press conference by thanking journalists for their understanding, patience and coverage this season...
