✹Companion Thread for The Point of Madness Ch. 1-2✹

This is a thread for additional stuff from my Regency ineffable husbands fic that I thought would be fun to share for no reason at all💜
The easiest way to spot a Regency setting is through women's dresses. After the French Revolution overtook a wave of neoclassicism where women mimicked the simpler style of Greek statues. The empire silhouette was ubiquitous all throughout the Regency.
Under this trend, starting the 1790s waistlines rose higher until by the 1810s they reached just under the bustline. The idea was to create an effortless lean silhouette. Crinolines would not become a thing until mid-Victorian (around 1830s)
Azira's walking dress from chapter 1: A fashion plate from Ackermann's Repository, dated 1818, implying that Azira in the fic is quite the trendsetter. Skirts were starting to become fuller, though the actual dress is mostly hidden under the elegant light blue pelisse
It's worth noting however that upper class ladies from this time usually had ladiesmaids to keep their clothes, reticules (tiny purses), and bonnets up to fashion. Much as we adore Azira, she probably relies on her ladiesmaid way more than she'd like to admit 😉
THE BYRONS: George Gordon Byron is a renowned writer, but his life had been filled with scandal. His marriage to Annabella, a devout Christian with strict religious morals, lasted only a year. She claimed that he was insane, had fits of dark moods, committed sodomy and an
incestuous relationship with his half-sister. Burdened with ruinous debt, Byron recommended she return to her parents house with their daughter Ada. A tumultuous few months of furious letter writing would follow, ending in a legal separation.
They would never see each other again. Lord Byron later fled to the Mediterranean, but Annabella would continue to obsess over him for the rest of her life.

(Will add more to this thread later after I post chapter 2!)
