The ongoing femicide in Turkey. By Aylin Doğan.
Thank you for reading

I didn’t wanted to do this. I shouldn’t’ even to do this. But I must. For decades women, in Turkey my are being abused and killed.

I try to hope someone will speak up but nothing happened.

YETER

I will tell you what the reality for women in Turkey is.
For years since 2011 women are being killed and abused by their ex husbands, husbands, boyfriends, ex boyfriends, brothers, uncles, father, fiends, their uncle, brother in law and even their own son.

You can see here how many women were killed in each year.
Now we are going to talk about some of the victims. They are more than 400 known victims and I can’t talk about them all knowing my heart cannot take it but I will talk about some you may or not have heard about.
Hande Kader.

Was a politically active Turkish transgender woman. Kader was familiar to millions of Turks as a figurehead for the LGBTQ+
community.

In August 2016, she went missing the following week, her body was found raped, mutilated, and burnt.
Ceren Özdemir

A 20-year-old university student and ballerina, Ceren Özdemir, was stabbed to death on her way back home from a ballet class, in December 2019
Merve Konukoglu.

Her father shot dead his 20-year-old daughter because she refused to speak to him after he divorced her mother, and then turned the gun on himself.

This happened last month on June 19th.
Emine Bulut.

A mother who was stabbed to death in a cafe on 18 August in Kirikkale by her ex husband IN FRONT HER DAUGHTER LAST YEAR.
And today..

Pinar Gultekin.

She was beaten and knocked out by her ex- boyfriend, then strangled and then buried and put in a barrel and buried under the ground.

Why?

Because she didn’t wanted to get back together with him...
Femicide and domestic abuse are an real issue in Turkey. Turkish people are aware it seems the world refuses to talk about it tell everyone you know, you can say I didn’t know but you can’t say you pretend it doesn’t happen

If you don’t mind I need to cry now this was hard
