I think making the transition from fanboy/fangirl to professional game dev is hard for some people. The more you define yourself as a consumer, the harder it is to adjust to being a professional.
Your first day as a pro in the industry? Here's my advice. You are closing the door on your life as a fan and opening one on being a professional. You cannot keep one foot in the past and fully step through that door.
Of course you still play and love video games. But "fan" has certain expectations of behavior. "Professional" has certain expectations of behavior.
You don't come across as a professional as long as your behavior is driven by your identity as a consumer.
