Thread: I am feeling a bit defeated seeing photos of vacations, book clubs, "distant social events" where people are most certainly not distanced. I understand the desire to be with people. And yet I worry (shocker to no one). #COVID19 1/4
Starting next month, many of us will be interacting more via having kids in school. I wonder if many people are confused about the guidelines. It was much easier when the advice was "stay home" because it was simple, direct, and clear. 2/4
Now, we have policies that say "do this, not that," or "do this but wear a mask" or "stay outdoors but not too close, and wear a mask, but it's ok if you have a quick encounter <than 15 min." or "this is safer than that, but both are safer than a bar." 3/4
What can public health professionals do to help? Are guidelines confusing? Or do people know them, but find them too inconvenient? Or are people just comfortable with different risks? Depending on the answer, different strategies could help. (seeking data if you have it) 4/4
