DANGERS OF FAKE HADITH..

First of all it’s paramount to understand the weight of hadith in our Islamic tradition.

Hadith is the collected tradition of the prophet based on his sayings, action and silent approval,
this means its the skeleton of our shariah.

In suratul Najm Allah said:
“وَمَا یَنطِقُ عَنِ ٱلۡهَوَىٰۤ”

“Nor does he speak of (his own) desire”

Quran Exegete, Ibn Kathir RH said: “asserting that nothing the Prophet utters is of his own desire or wish”
This tells us how every hadith is (indirectly) from Allah.

Hence whenever anyone makes up any saying and attributes it to the prophet, Islam suffers the effect.

There’s no such thing as good fake hadith, If i was to invent a hadith as “Be good to your fathers and teachers” despite how ‘good’ this is it must be Rejected.

Why?

One of the most famous mutawatir hadith, (with over 20 different chains) reported the prophet explicitly said:

“Telling lies about me is not like telling lies about anyone else. Whoever tells lies about me deliberately, let him take his place in Hell.” (Bukhari)

When quoting a hadith in Arabic it is prohibited to change any wording deliberately, this put hadith scholars of high alert of misquotes and fabrications.

No matter how poetic, meaningful or “deep” a text sounds, when attributed to the prophet, the source must be questioned

Abdullah bn Umar RA said before the fitnah we used to trust anyone who says the prophet said so and so

when fitnah broke out, we would ask “where and from who did you hear this from?”

Summary: Hadith criticism has been as long as the era of the sahaba (1st century)

The next time you quote a ‘hadith’ on TL and someone asks for reference, don’t feel disrespected, thats the academic protocol.

The words & action of the Rasool must be preserved, diluting them is sinful and weakens the religion itself.

Our Shaykh, Muhammad Awwal Adam Al-Albani RH Used to say

“Throughout time, the biggest problem the ahl sunnah community always had to deal with is ‘fake hadith’, They make muslims sound very ludicrous and irrational‘

To objectively understand the above statement.. let’s us a FAKE HADITH as example.

In order to lionize their sheikhs, Sufis since 3rd century invented the hadith:

علماء أمتي كأنبياء بني إسرائيل”
The scholars of my ummah are like the Prophets of Bani Israel”

He kept insisting its ‘sahih’

Hadith was classified as a fabrication by elite Muhaddithun like; like Albani, Zarkashi, Sakhawi and Ibn Hajar

Infact, Suyuti commented “It is not known from any reliable book.”

he’s from Tijjaniya Tariqa, they deify Abu yazid Al-bistami cos he SUPPOSEDLY revives the dead, goes 40 days fasting, walks on water

He based all those blatantly implausible claims upon that fake hadith

*(Inyass also venetrates abu yazid, read his book Khashiful Ilbas)

He uses same fabricated hadith to justify calling upon a sheikh when in distress.

Read Fataawa al-Lajnah al-Daa’imah (2/193)

To call upon “Ya shehu Nasiru” or Hussein or Angel or prophet when in danger is SHIRK

Scholars of Tawhid categorize it as Shirk-u-Da’awah

Let’s go back to our main topic

This takes us back to Albani’s statement of how fake hadith are a threat to the brains of the Islamic civilization.

From the above you did see how just one hadith! opened a fast track runway to Shirk.

One of the salaf, Abdullah bn mubarak RH used to sieve and expose fake hadith to his students so much they asked

“when you’re gone who will do this for us?”

He said “As long as fake hadiths exist, Allah will keep sending people who’ll sieve them” (paraphrase)

How can we fight this deadly disease, cos fake hadith is worse than covid 19

They promote bidia, shirk and are contrary to Quran & authentic sunnah, hence they heavily misguide

1/ We have to learn ilmul tahqeeq, Al-jarh wa al-ta’dil, Takreej, Mustalah al- hadith and Usulool Fiqh.

Or when you come across an unfamiliar text, Ask whoever says it for reference or clarify with scholars who have mastered above fields.

Islamic scholarship has something no religion has, that is these fields mentioned above.

It revolves around the concept of Isnad (thread for another day)

The mechanism in place is perfect for sieving fake hadith and fabricated islamic stories

Fake hadith are capable of distorting the tenets of a faith, (read paul and christianity)

2/ Any hadith weakened esp on ibadah please run away from it, there’s no virtue no matter how ‘reasonable’ it sounds.

Why are we so strict on fake hadith?

Imam Malik was born 93AH and yet he said “We must reject and remove any innovated matter in our religion today,

for Islam to be perfect it must be practiced as it was during the prophet’s time) (Paraphrase)

If imam malik said the above in the 1st century when the religion was new and least contaminated, how about us in 2020??

To fight fake hadith is to protect the dignity of the prophet and Islam, every muslim should know this.

Whatever good i’ve written is from Allah and whatever bad i’ve written (due to mistakes or insufficient knowledge) it’s from myself and shaytan.
