A message from our friends and colleagues @UACES THREAD
Calling @UACES members & friends – URGENT CALL for support from me, my fellow patron @BrigidLaffan and our chair @NicholasStartin. Please read this thread! 1/10
Some of you have been in touch asking how @UACES is coping with the pandemic and if we need support – the short answer is yes we do! 2/10
We’ve had to cancel the 2020 @UACES conference in Belfast and our @UACESgf Graduate Research Conference in Berlin meaning #ECRs in particular have missed out on crucial chances to present their work & network at an important time in their careers. 3/10
UACES staff have been very busy during lockdown trying to replace these opportunities. Our 1st Virtual Conference is taking place in September & it's free for members to ensure accessibility at a time of financial hardship for #ECRs in particular: https://www.conftool.org/uaces2020/sessions.php 4/10
But we need your help. While having no 2020 conference revenue, our outgoings on rent etc remain the same. 5/10
So to our mid-career and senior scholar members, if you are financially secure, we would be really grateful if you could help support @UACES through the difficult next few months. There are 3 ways you can help: 6/10
1) Check whether you need to renew your @UACES membership and if you do, please rejoin. https://www.uaces.org/join/  7/10
2) If you are feeling down about missing the Belfast conference, why not pre-order our stylish virtual @UACES conference tote bag and add a small donation at the same time? http://www.uaces.org/confbag  8/10
3) If you really do not need another tote bag, then you can always just make a small donation to @UACES here: http://www.uaces.org/donation  9/10
We know our community values @UACES and we need to be financially viable to keep supporting our #ECRs, which will be even more important in the months ahead. Thank you very much for any support you can give. 10/10
