A message to my generation.
(A thread)

So it's almost been one month since I logged back on to Twitter after forgetting I even had one in the first place, and to be honest with you, it's been a wild ride, and here's some things that I feel like I need to talk to you about.
I'm not more qualified than you in any manner. I won't even claim to be on a higher spiritual level than any of you either, simply because I am not. But there are things that I noticed on Twitter that I feel you may not have.
Therefore I've decided, to speak to you about them in this thread. Please give it a read and I don't intend to spread any hate, if you can make me realize my mistake, I will concede, although I would appreciate if you could try to take a lesson from this.
First of all, I have no idea why our generation is so obsessed with sexual terms. I mean, I respect your freedom of expression but could you really not? What's the point?
It's actually hypocritical how we advocate against the objectification of women and then use terms such as sl*t, wh*re, B*TCH so conveniently. I mean rape jokes are not funny, I hate them, but likewise these terms might be traumatizing for someone too? Maybe?
Secondly, we try so hard to normalize the entire western culture of relationships and dating etc. and Twitter is testimony to that. Everyone here is jumping on that bandwagon, and it really makes you wonder where we are headed as a generation.
Having an ex, then mocking them for being your ex, and then posting their flaws on here is praised, appreciated and thought highly of. Our heart breaks because We attach it to the wrong things. You pursue the perfection in this world but there is not perfection here at all!
This world is imperfect and the only perfect Being is Allah, and we never pursue His Love, we try to look for love in humans and then get disappointed when we don't find it in them.
It is time for us to wake up, as a generation. Note how I said 'we' throughout this.
We're in this mess together, and we have to get out of it together. We have to help each other realize our flaws in order to win over these things.
I really do hope you understand that we have normalized these sins.
These acts which were once considered social evils are the new normal. But all is not lost yet. Rumi said, "Once the seed of faith takes root, it cannot be blown away by even the strongest winds."
Let's sow this seed.
