1. Twitter's been fun these last 8 years. A useful outlet and encouraging to see others who think like me and indeed who express our mutual thoughts better than me. Some great people put there. Was attracted to Twitter for the democratising of voices.
2. A major highlight was witnessing the journey of @jeremycorbyn from someone I followed for being one of the last socialists in parliament to the rallying point for all who wanted real change & real democracy in Labour & in the country. It was a privilege to share that journey.
3. It was also a great privilege to walk the Twitter road with great comrades like @Pmacgiollabhain and see his perspective on Rangers vindicated while the rest of Scottish media pretended nothing was amiss. Publishing his book on the subject, Downfall, was eye-opening.
4. Another highlightTwitter afforded me was introducing me to @MiamiShowband who's book on The Miami Showband Massacre and who's remarkable and indefatigable patience in search peace and justice has been an inspiration.
5. However, the lowlights have been provided by the lowlifes. The hypocrites who smeared Corbyn by ridiculously claiming he was an antisemtite while they ignored the Tories unveiling a statue of an actual and self-proclaimed anger me whenever I see their name. They disgust me.
6. Imagine possessing the amount of cynicism required to reduce the greatest crime of the 20th century, the Holocaust, to a stick to beat a political opponent. Imagine being a journo who assisted or a comedian who joined in. Shallow hollow moral nonentities the lot of them.
7. Imagine possessing the degree of entitlement to berate those you've insulted, betrayed and mocked for not buying your newspaper to read your phony columns complaining against a government you helped into office.
8. Imagine being a broadcast reporter chiding the "hordes" on twitter for not treating you fairly when you've done nothing but defend power while attacking anyone wanting to hold power to account. t
9. They're not journalists. They are courtiers, dandying about trying to attract the attention and indeed the approval of those in power. Tbf they have worked out that in our corrupt society, defending power gets you not just access, but also promotions & fake awards for your CV.
10. The phony morality of our political class is there on display every day for any journalist with the guts to report on it. But the ghastly array of tinpot naked emperors has been joined by a ghastly array of tinpot naked journalists who have joined this ghoulish charade.
11. Nowhere is this more evident than on Twitter, where every day when you open up your timeline you see them, bedazzled by the powerful they seek to emulate and by their own blue ticks. There does indeed need to be a revolution but, first of all in journalism.
12. So, I'm going off Twitter for while as being angered by these sniveling pathetic enablers of austerity, of wars, of poverty, of racism, of lies of the worst sort, while they kiss powers ass isn't the best fun. Life's too precious to spend wading through that swamp every day.
