sorry for not being asleep but i see people on the tl being scared about the wattpad data breach so after i did a tiny bit of research here’s why you should NOT be scared about it

the information that was involved in the data breach was:
-usernames
- names (presumably display names, i could be wrong about this though)
- passwords, censored (123456 > ######)
- emails
- GENERAL location

with the information that hackers received from the data breach, your safety both in real life and online aren’t at major risk. nobody can access your email accounts, and nobody can track you down. by general location, the worst it can be is your town. they dont have your address

it wasn’t wattpad itself that released the information, it was hackers who did it. i’m not very familiar with this kind of subject so i can’t exactly go into detail on how they did it but i can assure you that wattpad is not at fault here.

as far as i know, the only information involved is information that you’ve given wattpad access to. they don’t have your full name, phone number or address unless it’s somewhere on your account, whether it’s public or private.
