Emotional intelligence is so important to have. You could have everything going for you; you're smart, honest, and all that. But if lack the capacity to be able to forsee how your actions would affect others or to have the right amount of empathy, does it really even matter?
You could do things under the guide of "brutal honesty" but still I don't think that should excuse insensitivity. You should know where to draw a line between honesty and rudeness. There are ways you could say things to people without being so crass about it.
Before you get on your high horse and dish out what you want to serve to people in the name of truthfulness, take a second to ruminate over it and see the likely outcome of your words. Is it too much? Would you want someone to say that to you and then tell you oh they were only..
..being honest? Is it someone that would reasonably hurt a person's feelings? I mean, the truth sometimes is bitter but I still feel like there are ways to respectfully and SENSIBLY get your point across. You honestly don't have to be an asshole about it.
