Reasons why I'm a Sam Heughan fan.
#1. His wicked sense of humor.
Hands down my favorite thing about Sam!
Can laugh at himself & that's a rare quality these days.
We did hit a bit of a bump during #StillHotMemeGate (forgiven) but I found out that was pretty much because of #2.
#2. His understanding of others & an ability to see situations from all potential sides.
He seems to try & make the best outcome for all, sometimes at a disservice to himself.
He's empathetic, compassionate & tries to see your perspective at all times.
Not many people can do that
#3. He inspires others to set & achieve their own "peak challenges".
He does this by leading by example and supporting you to take the lead.
He'll be a cheerleader when required, and sometimes he'll be the only voice you hear.
But that's ok.
He's got a loud voice.
#4. He spends every interview talking up everyone else.
I mean, everyone.
Make-up.
The camera man.
The costuming.
The writers.
The directors.
Costars.
The animals.
The children.
Catering.
Driver's.
So-and-so's Mum.
Everyone!
#5. The care he takes as guardian of Jamie Fraser.
I love this story.
Have since I was 15/16.
While I don't always agree with the show's adaptation, I feel like Sam is always advocating for Jamie.
He may not always get heard, but I feel like he's trying.
#6. He's #StillHot.
Well he is.
I make no apologies for that.
And yes, it's because of #1-5, not in spite of.
They aren't mutually exclusive.
#7. His philanthropy.
He auctioned himself off for charity.
And broke fundraising records while he was doing it.
Fundraising in excess of $4m and counting.
Funding research.
Making the world a potentially safer place.
That's impressive.
#8. He's an incredible actor.
His face says what scripts of dialogue can't.
He's literally a human emoji.
I find myself watching him deliver an incredibly subtle performance, that tugs on all the heartstrings, with what appears as consummate ease.
I find it remarkable.
#9. He owns a whisky company.
Enough said.
#sassenachspirits
#10. He's just a lovely guy.
When I met him he was humble, thankful for the Aussie Whiskey gift.
I saw him make nervous people feel at ease by listening.
He was funny.
Engaging.
Days later, in a market, with no one else around or listening, he was the same.
Absolutely lovely.
So, next time you send me a crappy DM saying, "Get over him, he'll never be your boyfriend" or you tell me "He's not worth my time" or I'm a "Sam mommy" feel free to read #1-10.
The only one that's being a dick around here is you.
Support who you want to support.
I support Sam.
