I have been bribed to write software that kills people.

Oh, I took the bribe. Highest offer I’d ever seen. More an I’d ever thought about. Of course, it’s mostly gone now. They turned off the tap when I grew a conscience. It’s hard to write software if you can’t sleep at night.

What really scares me is what’ll happen if I don’t take the bribe again. God and Feminism used to scare me, but God and Feminism won’t keep the Sheriff off my back.

I know, whoever you are reading this, you’re likely disgusted. You’ve never taken the bribe. You’ve lived just fine—well, not so fine—without it. You’ve found the way, somehow, to not fly into the sun of Complicity, or the waves of Defeat.

Not that you were given a choice.
