So, let& #39;s talk seriously about why a sitting Supreme Court Justice would sue The Advocate in Iberville Parish instead of where the Advocate is published (Baton Rouge) or where he lives (Livingston). https://twitter.com/aegallo/status/1285367152778842112">https://twitter.com/aegallo/s...
The answer is because he claims he was damaged there, but in reality he and his attorneys are venue-shopping. This, and retaliatory lawsuits like this one, are exactly why we have such a distrust of the judiciary in our state and such a terrible lawsuit climate.
The stories he& #39;s upset about are based on real interviews, and I& #39;m confident in the reporting. Apparently, so was the Supreme Court when they decided to make the Judiciary (somewhat) more transparent following @aegallo and @johnsimerman & #39;s series:

Secrecy, and SLAPP-suits such as Justice Hughes& #39; lawsuit, should not be tolerated. Louisiana deserves better.
