I think this bag I purchased at a Stitches event a number of years back can solidify what Abby is talking about. (Once I realized how hurtful this statement was, the bag hasn’t been used or left my house. I honestly feel ashamed) https://twitter.com/abbysyarns/status/1285295071584280576
For those who can’t see the image, it says: “Death before acrylic” with a sword driving down into a skein of what looks like red heart yarn.

I used to bash on acrylic yarn a lot and I’m not the only one in this community to do it. I see it far too often.
We’ve somehow managed to mix up our love for wool as a hatred of acrylic. When the group left Ravelry because of the policy change on support of 45, I saw a lot of “I bet they knit with red heart”
Yet we say things like “knitting is cheaper than therapy”. I bet some people who can’t afford therapy can’t afford the higher priced yarn either. When we say stuff like this, it’s representative of us as a community. Online and in person. And to others in our community.
And honestly I don’t remember where I got the bag, but I’m sure they were attempting to convey an adoration for wool, not to be hurtful (as was I when I bought it).
And if your answer to this thread is for me to “curate my feed better”, then you completely missed the point.
