Why Side Effects is NOT a skip and doesn’t deserve to be treated as one; a thread that will hopefully open some eyes
I think that it’s important to start this thread with this video, where Chan explains why they wrote Side Effects- it wasn’t so that it would be classified as “noise”, it was so they could use it as a tool to encourage others
Secondly, I think that it’s so important to acknowledge the lyrics- some people may be unable to relate to them, or think that they don’t make sense, yet they’re so eye-opening, but I guess individuals will take what they want from them
The performances to Side Effects really are something else entirely. They’re so unique and the stage presence that the boys have is breathtaking- the performance below is one of my all time favorites, and they way that they changed the arrangement of the song is just so perfect
Lee Know said “I can’t describe it in words, it will be just what you feel when watching the performance”- for me personally, the choreography captivates me, yet makes me feel slightly uncomfortable at the same time
It’s worth mentioning that Side Effects plays a critical role in the story that stray kids have with their music videos, and it shows how when one person is going through something, it can change how they behave toward others around them
I had to include this version just to prove that Side Effects doesn’t have to come across as intimidating as it sometimes does, I mean, just look at Seungmin, he’s having the time of his life
I want to include this as well because I think it’s so positive
I want to conclude this thread by saying that it’s totally okay if you don’t like Side Effects- I understand if it’s not a song that sits comfortably with you, and I get that it sounds quite unique and out there, but it is not “noise”, it’s a meaningful song that deserves better
