AMERICAN flag story

Dawn is coming, will the flag be flying like it was at sunset last night?

Through the night as battle raged we caught sight of the Stars and Stripes. Rockets illuminated the sky, we looked to make sure it was still there & that we hadn’t lost the battle.
As long as dawn arrived and our flag was still flying our freedoms were secured for another day. Thank God, it’s still there! Waving over the land of the people who are free to protest, free to speak, worship and disagree.
It’s still waving over the home of the brave men and women who’ve fought to insure we keep our freedoms.
Our flag survived, as battles raged on, people giving their lives to ensure our country which was founded on belief that all men were created equal, would stand.
This was the story Francis Scott Key was telling as he wrote our national anthem aboard a ship during a battle. Would we last through the night or would our flag fall in defeat? When he looked, our flag was still there!
Our flag has flown over many battles. On battlefields here and abroad. Our military carrying it into battle as a reminder of the ideal they fight for.
Sadly our country has had dark times but the ideal of what we can be... free... has been the driving force in why we protect Old Glory sometimes with our lives. It stands for the perfect ideal of what man can be.
Our flag has stood in court houses that decided cases that ended segregation and insured our freedoms stayed safe against rising & ebbing tides of discord so it was never perverted politically.
Our flag has flown on skyscrapers, tributes to our ingenuity. On military bases & aboard ships at sea to remind our military what we fight for. Our flag has flown on the moon.
Our flag has covered caskets of men & women who’ve died to preserve your right to live under freedoms you take for granted guaranteed by the sacrifices of people you’ll never know.
Our flag has stood proudly next to the flags of other nations. Nations whose people dreamed of life under an American flag. Our flag is waved by the oppressed in other nations as a sign of hope.
Our flag is more than cloth, more than the string that binds it together. Our flag is the tangible symbol that this great nation created for the people, by the people will stay free.
Our national anthem honors our flag. Honors the battles our flag has made it through. Every battle cost lives. Every life fought for the ideals our country was founded on. We ARE struggling now
America is at a cross road. Our struggle is not with our Anthem, our Flag or our way of life. Our struggle is good vs evil. Hard work vs laziness, democracy vs failed political systems.
Some say our flag is a symbol of hate but it’s a symbol of hope all over the world. We have to protect it from forces within who hate our freedoms, hate our citizens.
Forces within our country seek to agitate & inflame us to turn on each other. Don’t let them. We are the last line of defense for what we hold so dear, our national identity.
People who defame our flag & anthem are clueless as to what repercussions would be in other nations for their lawlessness. Maybe it’s greed, stupidity or naivety. We must stay strong.
It’s never been just a song. It’s never just been a flag. It’s what we are, it’s where we came from and it’s guiding us where we are going. Protect it at all costs.
