i think the most important advice to give to someone who dislikes their own art is ‘take your time’
you don’t dislike your art because it’s bad, you dislike your art because you’re improving! since you’re improving, your standards -especially for yourself- are getting higher,
therefore it makes you more critical on your own work. this can happen at any stage of your art journey, and it’s completly okay! try to think of the specific things you like about your art. maybe it’s the colour palettes? maybe the way you draw a certain thing?
maybe it’s the lightning? even if it’s something very specific, it’s still positive because it’s something you like! now, if doing art truly does make you feel bad, it’s okay -and good!!- to take a break!!! remember that you are your most important, but also your most critical-
audience. if you feel unhappy doing something, don’t do it! take some time away from it, maybe come back later once you feel good again, maybe not, it’s all up to you. if you’re not a professional, there is no point in being entitled to still draw no matter how it makes you feel.
it’s honestly just going to make you feel even worse about your art. so don’t do that! take time away, whether it’s for a week or for a year. as an artist, you’re constantly improving, by observation, so it’s okay to not practice for a while!
take your time, because one day the moment you actually like your art and the fact of doing art will arrive. but it will not be linear, it will not be perfect, you’ll always have to improve, and that’s okay, it’s the case for every artist! even the bigger ones, despite how it
may seem
to conclude this very long thread that doesn’t make much sense: art should be pleasurable to you, but it can’t be if you don’t accept to step away from it from time to time. and your art is always ‘good enough’! that’s it :)
