See there's still chuntering about "confusion" in the Championship relegation places.
Boro are mathematically safe from relegation on the basis of all facts as they stand at the moment. Wigan can get a maximum of 49 points as at the final whistle of their game against Fulham. Hull, Barnsley and Wigan cannot finish above Boro this week.
The teams to be relegated this week are Hull plus two from Barnsley, Luton, Charlton and Wigan.
Wigan will appeal against the points deduction, but nobody has shown or suggested any grounds on which they might succeed. If "having a twat of an owner making stupid decisions" were allowable grounds for appeal against penalties, Bury would still be in the league.
So the appeal MIGHT succeed, if there are facts that aren't yet in the public domain, but at the moment it seems extremely unlikely.

None of this is "confusing" in the slightest, other than for the extremely hard of thinking.
