Sakura thread incoming:
Reason for thread: She often is called useless. But I want to discuss ways she could have been amazing without giving hate. Sakura had a lot of promise. After the thread, I am open for discussion.
Skills: High level mastery of chakra control, super strength, healing jutsu which can far surpass many ninjas at once, water and earth chakra nature, and strength of a hundred seal. She also is good at breaking genjutsus and restoring chakra in others.
Ways to improve skill: With high level chakra control, she should be able to master kage level ninjutsu. Her seal is kage level. If she mastered her earth and water nature. It would help her control the area and make it easier to land a lethal blow making her far more effective.
Backstory: Sakura lacks backstory compared to the rest. Most goals come off as shallow like wanting Sasuke. Her reason for ending friendships with Ino as a kid was painful. Her family was barely shown. Sakura comes off as normal compared to the rest of the cast.
Backstory improvement: Sakura needs more reason and motivation. Without that, she will feel out of place. Maybe they could have focused a little more on her home life and had a better reason for becoming a ninja. She needs to feel like her own character.
Continued: She is insecure like a lot of us. Maybe they could have addressed that more. Being relatable is one of the best things an anime character could have. Her insecurities could be a better drive to be a great ninja. She did take a big step with Tsunade.
Personality: Sakura can often be hated for this aspect of her. In part 1 she was judgemental. She loved Sasuke for looks. She judged others like Naruto and Lee at first for not fitting a standard. Her anger often lashed out on Naruto.
Continued: part two she seemed to calm down. But she carried some traits over. Her character growth for personality was minor. She can be nice and caring. But I feel they wanted her to fit the Tsundere archetype.
Ways to improve personality: I think learning would be the best way to fix this. For example she should have realized Sasuke isn& #39;t this perfect guy. Tsunderes might be generic, but they can be really good if written right. She needs to have more pride and will of the fire.
Continued: the chunin exams should have been the turning point for her personality. She looked strong when she cut her hair off. But then she regressed later down the line. I will talk more about this later. To put it short, she needs to move forward and not backwards.
Her relationship with Sasuke: This is the other reason people dislike her. Her love often came off as shallow. This could make sense since Sakura was 12 at the time. But they had very few moments to connect. One moment happened when they met Orochimaru.
Continued: Sauke was scared of Orochimaru. She finally said something negative to him. She also later stopped sasuke from killing the sound ninja when she begged. After that not much connections happened. The last thing in part 1 was when Sasuke said goodbye and knocked her out.
Continued: Part two she went to rescue Sasuke and almost got killed. Later on after the 5 kage arc she tried to kill him with a poison kunai. Last thing she did with Sasuke was fight in the war as team 7. After the war, Sasuke knocked her out with a genjutsu of her getting killed
Continued: after waking up, the final fight was done. Sakura had one good moment at the end with him when Sasuke did the same thing Itachi did to him when asking a question.
Ways to improve the relationship: Honestly, they just need genuine moments. Sakura needs to see Sasuke for who he is. I think the picture of him in her head was different. The relationship felt rushed and toxic. Sakura seems to have a better understanding in Boruto.
Continued: Another route is to go with someone else and stop pursuing. This would have given some fans and even haters respect. It is tough to get over a crush and acknowledge when it is not healthy.
Naruto: I will be quick with this. She often judged Naruto at first but later on had a lot of respect for him. But the fake I love you was dirty. She also saved him in the war which was nice. All she needs to improve is being nice to him more. Filler made her look worse.
Good moments: Cutting her hair off, sasori battle, keeping people alive including Naruto at the ninja war, and fighting Kaguya as team 7. She had other good moments after the anime. One was in the light novel where she beat someone strong and fighting shin.
Sakura moments: They don& #39;t compare to the rest of her teammates. I think she should have had more. After cutting her hair off, she wanted to be stronger. But she often begged for help when she didn& #39;t know what to do. I think she should have went on the Sasuke retrieval.
Continued: She would have lost, but it would have showed some determination for growth. Another moment she could of had was fighting pain. She begged for Naruto again. Even Hinata got part of that smoke and konohamaru. She definitely was capable of destroying some pain paths.
Continued: She missed a lot of things because it was the Naruto and Sasuke show. If she had more time to shine. She definitely could have shown her use. She stronger than people give her credit for.
Closing thoughts: Sakura had all the tools and potential moments to be good. But bad writing made her out to be worse than she actually is. Even the data books make her out to be kage level strength. So she is far from useless. Any questions to this thread?
