I always find it baffling when people ask me how it is working on a covid ICU with their, what they think is, empathetic tone. Only to thank me and express their concern for my safety and the safety of others.
When I answer with great concern for not only my coworkers but for everyone’s safety you think for a second that people would take that to heart.
Instead no amount of explanation of education can get into them how scary this pandemic really is, because ultimately they don’t want to be inconvenienced by giving up simple daily pleasures.
Which has me asking the same question everyday, why do we as Americans, have to experience something to feel remorse/empathy/ “now I get it”
