Forgot to post abt it—
~tonight is a #NewMoon 🌑 (Amavasya) the last one of the season.
~On this day we r supposed to do “Balidarpanam” (pooja) for our ancestors.
~ Right now Sun is in Dakshinayana (moving towards south). Pic 2👇

So y is this new moon associated with ancestors?
Right nw Sun is in DAKSHINAYANA—when it moves southwards towards tropic of Capricorn. 👇
This is associated with PITRU-PAKSHA.

Pitru~ Father/ancestors.

Interestingly, capricorn(zodiac) is also associated with Fathers/Men.

Moon is associated with
Mothers/ emotions/right aide of brain
while
Pitru Paksha is associated with Fathers/ancestors/practical and strategic behaviour / left side of brain.

On this day both right side & left side of our brain r equally heightened in their performance.

This being Monday/ Somwar accentuates imp of the day.

Somwar is associated with Shiva & Moon.

Shiva who hs a Moon placed in his looks is also called Chandrashekhar.

Chandra means Moon, Shekhar means peak, or a heightened influence of Moon.

R u still with me? 😃
5/5 Prolly this is why Shiva is associated with both the extremes (calm and fury). This is one of my threads frm last yr, when I ws still exploring the meaning of Balidarpanam. 👇 https://twitter.com/levinaneythiri/status/1156453494150221824
Correction: Shiva’s locks* not looks. 🤦‍♀️
Shekhar can also mean —to place something. So ChandraShekhar cn be interpreted as one who has moon placed on himself.
