Helped one of my professor friends move this morning. He just lost his one-year appointment & could only get one class for this semester, meaning he'll have to figure out how to provide for his new baby with hardly any income.

My friend has a book out & another expected next year w 10 yrs teaching experience. He's more than qualified, but there are almost no full-time gigs available, so he'll be stuck making ~$3000 per course w/o benefits.

I know ppl like to shit on professors as having it easy, but nothing could be further from the truth. The work is difficult & the pay poor. Let's talk solutions another time, but today, show a little support to a prof in your TL. They need it.
