I’ve seen this graph like four times today, but the only “study” I can find to corroborate it is a medium article that polled less than a hundred people from kotaku in action.

I wanna be clear that I don’t even think this is necessarily false. Most gamergaters explicitly thought of themselves as liberals and centrists. I just don’t, think that’s the whole story lol

Young internet people do skew toward the left. I def don’t think it’s fair to say that most gamergaters would have a negative opinion of like, m4all. I think the truer statement is “most ppl who were conservative and had an opinion on gamergate thought gamergate was good.”

(Also the fact that we don’t have any kind of idea how anti gamergate people aligned themselves politically is an extremely large hole in this, uhh, study. Gamergaters could have been, even by their own estimation, wildly disporportionately conservative.)

Ok I think I may have found the right study but I can’t access it. The abstract says it shows that ggers hold more liberal views than the “general population.” So imo my critique here still very much applies
