A THREAD:

Happy Birthday Frantz Fanon 🥳

The work of Fanon is deeply important to the work we do and the shaping of our vision. Fanon gave language to collective pain and the collective dissonance colonisation affects unto us as Black folk.
He spoke to the problem of colonisation on a level that melded the socio-political with the psychological in an incredibly powerful way. Fanon’s work has offered so much to the ways we consider the impact of, and the necessary responses to, colonisation.
He was unapologetic about our route to liberation and recognised that violence cannot be fought with peace. Decolonisation is deep systemic, structural, and world transforming work.
We must be unapologetic and brave in our strategies for shaping the new worlds we vision and long to live in. Today we thank and celebrate Fanon for contributions to thought that transformed a generation and will continue to transform many more to come.
