California high school sports will be delayed until December or January. Meanwhile, @wiaawa Executive Board is expected to meet on the matter tomorrow at 2 p.m.

Coaches, athletes & parents, check the THREAD for info I've gathered over the past week:
When speaking with WIAA Executive Director Mick Hoffman today about the CA decision, he told me "everything is on the table for us."

However, Hoffman was quick to point out that CA is in a much different situation than WA.
As for tomorrow's meeting, a decision COULD be made, but I'm getting the feeling that it will be more discussion-based--pending on where the 13-member Executive Board lands.
The WIAA has broken down its sanctioned sports into three tiers: Lower Risk, Moderate Risk & Higher Risk.

In a previous conversation w/Hoffman, he told me counties MUST be in Phase 3 in order to compete in "Lower Risk" fall sports.
Fall sports breakdown:

Lower Risk (cross-country [staggered starts], individual girls swimming)

Moderate Risk (slowpitch softball, volleyball, soccer)

Higher Risk (football)
Moderate Risk sports can hold modified practices in Phase 3, and can compete once counties reach Phase 4.

As for Higher Risk fall sports aka football, they can't hold modified practices until Phase 4.
The WIAA is still awaiting guidelines from the state department of health on when Higher Risk sports (football, wrestling & competitive dance/cheer) can compete.

Due to the county-by-county approach, it's more likely than not that we'll see a drastic change to the postseason.
Those changes could include multiple/regional state champions based on who's able to play.

The WIAA's main focus is giving the student-athletes the chance to compete, especially after canceling spring '20. Hoffman even told me spectators at competitions would be a luxury.
In conclusion, the WIAA is (rightfully IMO) following the lead of the local government & health officials.

With that said, a fall sports season starting in January, similar to CA, is definitely on the table.
