So one time this therapist said I needed to learn to be less angry about ableism because all of that added stress would make me sick. 🙃
Another gem from this same therapist: why did I always insist on making it about disability? It's alienating to the people around me. Like, take a break and just be *normal*? 😒
So the reason why I had to see this person was because another doctor was convinced that anxiety was at the root of my illness. (It's not. Anxiety is real and valid, but I don't have it.) So I had to stick it out because this psychologists' conclusions would impact the rest 1/
...of my care. But MSP (the system in BC) only pays for a certain number of visits, so they have to "fix" you in just a few sessions. Apparently, it's a lot faster to get you to resign yourself to ableism than to love your fab disabled self in the face of omnipresent ableism. 2/
