There are a lot of things that bug me about the way abled people are trying to use the ADA disingenuously to get around being decent human beings.

But a major thing is just how disrespectful it is.
It's maybe not the main thing that upsets me but it's a constant low-level irritation.

Because if you ACTUALLY care about Disabled people's civil rights, as described in the ADA, you'd mask up and make it safer for at-risk people to be out in the world.
But this is just co-opting Disabled people's hard work—work that is frequently dismissed, framed as "going too far", and decried as "unfair attacks"—to try and justify making the world less safe.
Trying to use the ADA to justify making the world LESS safe for Disabled people is really insulting.
Also, it makes it way harder for people who genuinely struggle with masks to get their needs met.

And there ARE people who genuinely struggle with masks, no matter what the absolutists are saying.
