Cetra!Rufus
Rufus goes to visit Aerith while she's in Shinra's custody. He hears her singing a song to herself that's awfully familiar, but he can't quite place it. Getting closer, he begins to recall it, only the tune but not the words.—

He hums along with her voice, surprising her for a moment before she stops singing. The pair of them stare at each other, heads cocked in curiosity, both asking the same thing:
"You know that song?"—

Aerith explains it's a lullaby her mother taught her. Rufus remembers his own mother singing it to him as a child, telling Aerith so.
She just stares at him in disbelief as he approaches her holding cell closer.—

They both reach out a hand to the glass that separates them, palms flat against it. Aerith looks him in the eyes, about to speak, but Hojo's voice pulls them from their little bubble as Rufus moves away from the glass.—

Rufus says little to the scientist, leaving his labs without another word.
Watching him leave, Aerith stares after him, a hand on her chest. She thinks surely he's not...he can't be. But her inner voice tells her Rufus isn't all he seems.
