Since it is the week of #ADA30 every day I'm going to do a thread.

Today I want to talk about employment.
For the last 10 years I've been trying to get a day job, since day jobs are intrinsically linked to health insurance in this country and uh, I need health insurance.
But so often, when I find a job I'm excited about there are... requirements. Like having a drivers license. Like being able to lift 50lbs. In one particularly unpleasant instance: being able to visually identify people.
Those requirements? They help weed out disabled people like me.

Open office plans? Help weed out disabled people like me.

Policies that say you can't work from home? Help weed out disabled people like me.
I'm hoping that in post-COVID world we continue to see work from home be normalized, that we see disabled people included in the workforce.

Because the unemployment numbers are abysmal.
As you can probably guess, I have opinions about how employment and healthcare are linked.

We'll talk about healthcare tomorrow.

That will be a "hold my beer" thread.
