i think some lgbt people don't realize how different issues are depending on what your identity is. like makeup means something completely different to a gnc gay man and a gnc lesbian yknow? so the issue of "makeup is an art form" vs "makeup is an opressive expectation" exists
and like, neither answer is wrong! but both sides need to examine it and see it from the other's pov before immediately dismissing the idea that it could be hurtful/expressive
or one time a bi man told me (a lesbian) that maybe i just hadn't met the right man yet and when i got mad about it he was like "well that's what happened to me!" as if a lesbian and a man presumed to be straight being attracted to solely women is the same thing
and i know he meant well by it but from my perspective it's an incredibly hurtful thing to say! i think people need to remember that we're a community but it's important to realize that issues impact all of us differently because our experiences are not universal
