THREAD: 20/21 Potential Arsenal system/formation under Arteta. After receiving good comments from previous threads, i'll be making it a regular feature. In this thread,I will be looking at how we may shape up next season. RT's so more Gooners can see the thread would mean a lot😁
When asked about the need for more goal involvements from midfield, Mikel replied 'Absolutely. If we talk about playing with two attacking midfielders, even more'. Reading between the lines here clearly suggests he is looking to implement a system reminiscent to Pep's 4-3-3..
We lack players within midfield who can play as an advanced 8. Dani Ceballos, I think can transition to this position. Key passes, ball progression, line breaking are traits he has which provides me with confidence that he can play in this system. Atm he is playing in a pivot
with Granit, therefore isn't able to impact the game further forward. In order for us to implement Arteta's system, we need 2 CM of different profiles. First name needed is obviously Thomas Partey. Whether it will happen or not, we will have to see. If not, we must look elsewhere
for a player with a similar profile. Energy, power, physical, positional discipline and athleticism is what he provides. Excellent in possession and has an exceptional passing range. Breaks the lines as well, portraying clear evidence of his versatility as a 6 or an 8. An..
underated trait of his is the ability to carry the ball and drive with it. We then need a player who can provide the difference in the attacking third, possessing creativity and a goal threat. Strong rumours going around that Coutinho could arrive. PERFECT! Vision, creativity,
intelligence, decision making in the final third, weight of pass, trickery which enables him to go past players and a goal threat. At 28 years old, he would arrive at his peak. 9 goals and 8 assists for Bayern this season as well. We haven't provided half the amount of goals he
has scored from our midfield! Lots of rumours in the type of deal, but if it is possible, lets do it providing wages are not ridiculous. Then we move to CB. Arteta favours a left sided CB on the left and a Right sided CB on the right. What this does is allow players to receive
the ball in a more favoured position, which can help maintain fluidity in our play. Mari is a player Mikel rates and I see him playing as the left sided CB. For the right side, its got to be DAYOT! Has all the attributes required for a modern, ball playing CB.Physical, Commanding
and possesses an excellent passing range. Impressive line breaking ability shows his capability to start attacking transitions. Arteta might favour a Luiz or Mari partnership to begin with, and ease the new CB in that we acquire. If we do bring in Dayot and Coutinho, along with
making Ceballos permanent, then we can successfully play 4-3-3. Even if we cant get Partey for example, we can still transition to this system. But lets assume we get him, with Laca and Auba both extending their contracts.
Potential line up 4-3-3- Martinez/Leno, Bellerin, Dayot, Mari, Tierney, Xhaka, Partey, Coutinho, Pepe, Laca, Auba. Xhaka as the controller, deep lying playmaker who provides progression from deep. Partey on one side providing progression with his excellent passing range. Coutinho
playing on the left side in a more ADVANCED POSITION, fundamental in being the hub for creativity. Partey provides the energy and tenacity to limit Xhaka's defensive responsibilities. Flexibility both in and out of possession is provided with this team.Out of possession, we could
switch to a back three, with Tierney dropping at LCB, Xhaka or Partey providing support on the left, and Bellerin shifting to RWB. We can then spring into our 4-3-3 in possession or 4-2-3-1 with Xhaka-Partey pivot and Coutinho in the whole. In attack, we can also adopt a
3-2-5, providing overloads on the left. Xhaka filling in at LB and Bellerin tucking in as an inverted RB to maintain a pivot with Partey. Auba tucking in, occupying their RB and allowing Tierney space to exploit out wide. We can provide the same scenario by overloading on the
right in similar fashion. Flexibility! Without Partey, a trio of Xhaka, Ceballos and Coutinho can provide the same fundamentals. If Coutinho isn't brung in, we can bring someone else to fulfil his role. But with a few additions, we can shape up to the way Mikel wants. IM EXCITED
