The philosophy behind “White Fragility” is a destructive one. Black people read it & assume all white people—even their friends—think they’re less-than. White people read it & assume all black people think they’re racist. Does that sound like a recipe for “racial reconciliation?”
We cannot build relationships assuming the worst of one another. This kind of thinking aims for resentment for black people and fear and self-flagellation for white people. Do you know any healthy relationship built on resentment, fear & self-punishment?
For the Christian, the recipe for unity is this: “Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.” Ephesians 4:31-32
